Question: (with high entrance) Would an air hole reduce sag?

Hello,

Someone left a note in my 'igloo log' stating that a hole in the wall would reduce melting. Would an air hole help extend the life of an igloo?

My door is above the floor so I haven't made an air hole. If I want to it must be before Monday, as a cold snap is coming and will make the walls to hard to do this.

I did put the air hole in this past Saturday night, as an update...

Depends mostly on how warm it gets inside. If the sun shines in the door, a lot of heat can accumulate in the igloo or if built on warm ground also. Otherwise, the ambient temp inside should be below freezing and no vent required, it would even stay colder on warm days.
