Hello,
In advance of a day that will reach +4C with wind, I've started work on building a wind-deflecting barrier for my igloos. A friend told me that any barrier will not only deflect the wind at its own height but also cause a deflecting arc up from it, which may protect the entire igloo to a degree.
I've never done so before, but I screwed together pieces of plywood into a u-shape and have built a 2' high, 17" thick wall on the windward side of this season's 2nd igloo. Tonight I plan to raise it to 3.5' high, as brief internet homework says there is turbulence created behind a wall as far back as it is high, and at the closest point the wall is 3.5' from the igloo's base.
Anyone with experience or thoughts on this?
