Winter Camping Symposium - Ely, MN

Post by Matti » Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:54 pm

For anyone interested in attending the Winter Camping Symposium I have lifted the description from the Ely events calender. More information and the registration form can be obtained by e-mailing Wintergreen - info @ dogsledding dot com . It sounds like MN (Minnesota) Kiting will have a booth set up for those interested in winter kiting as well.

Thanks,
Matti

Mark you calendars for Oct 24-26, 2008, and make plans to visit Ely, Minnesota this fall. The annual Winter Camping Symposium is coming back to the gateway to the BWCA (which we affectionately refer to as the Boundary Winter Camping Area!) where it was first held 9 years ago. Hosted on the beautiful woodland campus of Vermilion Community College (VCC), the symposium will feature workshops, field trips, & seminars all focused on enhancing your winter camping experiences. In addition, you'll enjoy vendor exhibits, a gear swap, trip forum and a special campfire cookery tasting event and bake-off.

Registration fees: Thru October 1 - $25/adult, $15/student (high school or college), free for youth 12 & under:
After October 1, Adults $40, Students $25. Camping sites (with showers/toilets nearby) are available in the VCC forest preserve (no charge) or hotel lodging is available within walking distance. Meals can be purchased at the VCC cafeteria or from a variety of restaurants just a few blocks away (or enjoy your own campfire cookery!)

“The Ely Winter Camps Rendezvous will be the largest winter camping event in North America in 2008. With 18 world class speakers, 10 work shops, The largest collection of different style winter tents ever assembled, factory equipment reps to display and discuss equipment, local resources to answer questions and help plan trips, and the friendly city of Ely show casing its winter entry into the BWW and Quetico Park, this is your change to find out and try winter camping and the resources that make this such a growing activity.

This is truly and international event you need to be a part of.”
